The ‘Statistics of Universities, Centres and Degrees’ published by the Ministry of Education every year indicates that the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) has turned out to be the seventh public university with the highest preference rate in the current academic year 2017- 18. The applications made by pre-university students who wanted to study a degree at the UCLM exceeded the offer made by the academic institution, surpassing in 22% the over demand rate registered in all public universities in Spain.

Seventh largest public university in absolute terms
A total of 1,787 students chose the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) to take official master’s degrees, according to the Statistics of University Students 2016-17 elaborated by the Ministry of Education. This represents an increase of 24.6%, placing the UCLM as the fifth public university that has grown the most in attracting this type of graduate students. In absolute numbers, it represents the seventh highest increase of all public universities with 353 students in a single academic year.

First university in relative terms with a 8.4% increment
A total of 5,348 new students chose the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) to take degree courses, according to the Statistics of University Students 2016-17 elaborated by the Ministry of Education. With an 8.4% increase, the UCLM stands as the first public university that has improved in attracting new students. New enrolments in first-degree courses have increased by 416 from 4,932 in the previous academic year, which represents the second largest increase of all public universities in absolute terms.

A reduction of just 460 students amounted in the last 6 years, 1.75% less
This is the first academic year, after six years, in which students have made their enrollment in a normalized framework after concluding the Bologna Process, producing nearly equal figures of students enrolled at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) to those at the beginning of this process, with 26,327 students in 2008-2009 with respect to 25,867 students in 2014-2015. Those students enrolled in PhD or Continuing Education programs have not been included in this counting though by doing so, the regional university reaches an average of 30,000 students. 28.7% reduction amounting 10.4 million over the previous year
According to the “Statistics of Scholarships and Study Grants”, released last week by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, 12,415 scholarship and study grants holders at the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) received 26,245,900 euros in the 2013-2014 year, representing a reduction of 10,411,100 euros over the previous year, which amounted to 36.657 million euros. The Ministry reduced its contribution in 5,718,500 euros to the students at the UCLM and the regional government reduced the 4,692,600 remaining euros.
