The 2015 edition of the ranking URAP indicates that the University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) is ranked 696 worldwide in research performance, whereas within the Spanish University System (SUE) occupies the 27th position. The UCLM improves the achieved score in 5 of the 6 indicators used for the development of this ranking.

The University of Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM) remains among the best 700 universities in the world by the prestigious ranking URAP recently published by the University Middle East Technical University. This ranking measures the research performance of universities from their scientific publications. It analyzes six indicators: Articles, Citations, Total Document, Article Impact Total, Citation Impact Total and International Collaboration. The indicator Articles analyzes the 2014 year whereas the rest of them analyze the period 2012-2014. The data source is the publisher Thomson Reuters through InCites or Web of Science.

In the 2015 edition, the UCLM is positioned 696 in this ranking, which is in line with other results recently obtained in other research rankings such as ARWU expanded or CWUR ranking, which puts the regional university in similar positions worldwide. Other research rankings such as Leiden-CWTS ranking or Scimago Institutions rankings show that the UCLM occupies further advanced positions by using excellence indicators or considering the scientific output from a larger number of disciplines.

Analyzing the results obtained in the different indicators of the URAP ranking, it highlights the improvement achieved by the UCLM in the score of all indicators such as Citations, Impact and International Collaboration except for that corresponding to the number of Articles. In this case, the slight reduction in the number of articles according to Incites from 848 in 2013 to 835 in 2014 has led to a minor reduction in the value of the indicator. The position in the previous edition of the ranking was 692. Nationally, the UCLM keeps the 27th position held in the previous edition.

Within the Spanish University System (SUE), it stands out that for the first time in the history of this ranking, a Spanish university appears among the top 50 positions worldwide. Specifically, the University of Barcelona is placed in the 48th position. The first position of the ranking is occupied by Harvard University.
